The Ghost of Thanksgiving was originally written on November 24th, 2010, sent through email to me by the one and only Zoid Asteroid Machine. The first time I read the story, I thought he had heard it elsewhere and was simply retelling it to me, but I soon found out it was total improvisation on Zoid’s part. I told him at the time, that he should publish it online somewhere for others to read and enjoy, and he said he would think about it. Unfortunately, Zoid passed away on February 27th, 2014, and had never published the story. On Thanksgiving 2017, I read the story to myself like I do every Thanksgiving, and suddenly, the idea to make it into an illustrated book popped into my head. So this is it. The original telling of “The Ghost of Thanksgiving” exactly how Zoid told it to me in 2010. Only with fun little illustrations now attached to the tale. And although there are pictures, I wouldn’t exactly describe this book as a “children’s book”. Just like anything else, parents, please use your discretion. It is a battle between turkeys and pilgrims with muskets and wooden swords. Just saying.

Anyway, I trust you’ll enjoy this story as much as I did the first time I read it. I laughed. I cried. Now years later, it’s still a holiday tradition in my house. I hope it becomes a tradition in yours.
